“It’s one thing to make a picture of what a person looks like. It’s another thing to make a portrait of who they are.” -Paul Caponigro

Head shots are not a dime a dozen. In this day and age, a lot rests on that simple thumbnail. It is your first impression on the world. Most importantly, it is your personality that should shine through. That, in essence, is what welcomes your visitors to your page. As Paul Caponigro said, “It is not what you look like but who you are that captures the viewer.”

I tailor headshot sessions to meet your needs. It is not merely a “one size fits all” set up. From a simple head and shoulder shot in my studio in NYC to a more environmental portrait, my goal it to provide whatever fits your brand.  Sessions run anywhere from 60 to 90 minutes. I have found this to be the length of time that gets the most out of a session. Often times, people get tired in front of the camera and then returns are diminished pushing past this length of time.

If you’re considering a headshot session, keep the following things in mind:

  1. Please bring as much clothing or changes of wardrobe as you can fit into the 60 to 90 minute time frame. Remember to only bring what your love, what you feel confident in, and what you look great in. The worst thing would be to be photographed in an outfit that you either do not feel confident in or does not flatter you.
  2. Remember that, different from other photography, the camera is incredibly close to your face. Take care of all shaving, waxing, grooming, etc. prior to the shoot. Go light with makeup but bring it with you to the shoot as more might need to be applied. Bring oil absorbing sheets, especially if the shoot is outside, to avoid any oily areas.
  3. Practice your look before you show up. You want to have an idea of what you want your shot to look like before it’s go time. So do your hair, makeup, and don your wardrobe choices and practice your smile in the mirror.
