l participated in a mastermind group recently where photographers were discussing their different styles and getting feedback from others. After viewing my collection of photos, someone pointed out that I shoot in a magazine style typically reserved for celebrities. They followed up by asking if I did indeed want to work with celebrities.
After a beat, I responded with a surprising, “No, not really.” At least not who people typically refer to as celebrities. I want to work with the realsuper stars. The unsung heroes of everyday life. I want to celebrate the mothers and fathers and the brothers and sisters. I want to celebrate the creatives, entertainers, and entrepreneurs. These are the ones who keep the world working, and it’s my joy and honor to showcase their unique skills and individual beauty.
I’m looking for people like you who are captivating and compel a second glance because you are not just another photoshopped face on a magazine but a real life with a story to tell. I want to capture authentic people and authentic beauty to help your light shine even brighter in your sphere of influence.
That being said, I don’t want to call this “celebrity style” so I decided to go with the more fitting “A-List” portrait style, and here is my manifesto:
A-Lister Manifesto
I strive to reach and capture each person’s inner superstar through photography. I will acknowledge the transformation – the phoenix that is your personal experience – with love and grace, and without judgment, to honor your experiences, hard work, and sacrifices. The images we create together will celebrate who you are.
After all, you certainly deserve to be revered as a celebrity, too.
Ready to join the A-List? I’d love to hear your story and help you capture professional photos like these that not only reflect your brand and personality but would also fit right in to the next issue of Time or Vanity Fair magazine. Let’s get started!
