New York City| Furniture Delivery Super-Sized

Furniture Delivery Super-Sized

I’ve always been drawn to renovation/remodeling projects. You could say it’s in my blood. When I was in my teens, I learned electrical wiring and plumbing, carpentry, and dry wall installation from projects my family was doing to properties we were lucky to buy. That part of Brooklyn was all but deserted by the city, so it was an exciting venture. You never knew what you might run into.

Recently, I had been noticing a cousin’s work via Facebook and Instagram and reached out to her about working together on a project she had been doing. Turns out it was a four-year project coming close to its completion. What better time to get in on a project, right? 😉

But all kidding aside, it really was perfect timing for us. We made plans to photograph it when it was finished, and it also led to an unsuspecting photo opportunity for me. While we chatted she mentioned that a delivery of custom furniture was happening soon…and it was being craned in!!! This was something I did not want to miss!

We stayed in touch with vague ideas about when the delivery would happen – with almost an entire month as the delivery window! The anticipation was killing me. Luckily, it finally happened on a Sunday morning. I was free, and we were in business!! I arrived just in time to see the huge cranes setting up to lift all kinds of furniture up to the top of the building – even a grand piano! If this was something I didn’t want to miss, I figured you wouldn’t either. It was a city photo project in the making, and I couldn’t wait to share.

It was really exciting to be able to get vantage points both on the ground and on top of the building, a rare treat, especially for someone who used to be deathly afraid of heights. Incidentally, that was a fear that disappeared on the top of Masada, but that’s a story for another time.
